BACKGROUND |

| Dentistry is a dynamic skill oriented, manually dexterous evolving Profession. To improve the manual skills of the dentistry students this is Pakistan’s Pioneer Public Sector Dental College lab which has been established under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Noshad A Shaikh- Vice Chancellor LUMHS and his team to support and promote Dental Profession. The initial work was done by Dr. Noor Mohammad Khoso, former Prinicpal Institute of Dentistry and subsequently completed under the tenure of Dr. Feroze Kalhoro, the present Principal Institute of Dentistry with the support of the Dental Faculty and Mr JavedMemon, LUMHS Project Director. This Dental Skill Lab was inaugurated by his Excellency Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad on 15th November 2014 as a part of 2 day academic event organized by the Institute of Dentistry, LUMHS as Pakistan’s Pioneer National Conference on Dental Education held on 14th& 15th Nov.2014. |
OBJECTIVES |
- To cater to develop& improve the manual skills of the dentistry students
- To create strong basic concepts of all Clinical Dentistry Specialties, esp. related to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Operative Dentistry and other related Basic Disciplines.
- To initiate & promote Continuing Dental Education ( CDE ) activities.
- To improve clinical manual skills of Dentistry Students, Post Graduates, General Dental Practitioners (GDPs) and Dental Faculty development
- To conduct Hands- on Workshops related to improve dental skills

LEARNING OUTCOMES |
Participants at this lab after completing training would be able to enhance their manual skills related to practice Clinical Dentistry in terms of:
- Work in a simulated oral environment
- Work in a Stress free environment
- Learn & Practice Ergonomic Dental Practice trends
- Equip themselves to Pass International level Clinical Dental Practice - Exams , as registered / Diplomat / Board / similar other Licensing Exams offered in the developed World

FACILITIES |
- 25 Independent Dental Units, each having Phantom Head work stations with upper & lower jaws housing Acrylic teeth
- Mounted Intra Oral Camera with display Screens on each Dental Unit
- Multiple Dental Specialty Movies to promote education & training
- A Central mounted Screen, simultaneously acting as a Multimedia screen & Writing Pad
