The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS) provide highest standards of patient care in orthopaedics, orthopaedic trauma, rheumatology and rehabilitation. The Service has a strong commitment to best evidenced clinical practice, research, teaching and continuing education.
The department provides not only comprehensive range of quality clinical services, but also afford integration of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within its clinical program, and basic and clinical research which compliment and seek to improve upon the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems and trauma.
Due to the efforts and contribution of its faculty members, the service continues to be recognized as a centre of excellence at local as well at national levels.
The junior doctors and postgraduate scholars have independent surgical privileges, with commensurate responsibilities for patient care. Consultation and support from the senior faculty are readily available, since a senior faculty member is always on-call with the medical officers of the affiliated hospital.
Being recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council and College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan, the department offers postgraduate training to MS and FCPS scholars of the country. The training ensures that graduates and postgraduates become skillful, experienced surgeons to compete at international level.
The faculty members of the department provides their services and care for patients with trauma, disorders of the bones, muscles or joints. The department offers emergency trauma management and elective surgeries at Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad/Jamshoro.
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation services to patients and teaching/training regarding Physiotherapy to students is provided at Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences, LUMHS Jamshoro. Minor traumatic orthopaedic surgeries are performed through Casualty Department. |
